Tubeular K-member ??'s

Is using the tube k-member an upgrade for a street car? I know it saves a lot of weight, but is its purpose only for the drag strip? It looks so small and punny, is why I ask. Also, what is the diff between "mild steel" and "chromoly"?

Chromoly is lighter and stronger than mild steel.

Thanks Stephen, but what about the k-member itself. Is it ok for daily driving, street racing, etc..

Probably. You'll have to ask the manufacturer about their opinion about using it on the street. If they guarentee that it won't bend or break during street use then it should be ok. Don't forget, factory components are designed to last for the life of the car and will take a fair amount of abuse. Aftermarket and race parts are usually not in the same catagory.

I have the tubular K frame on my car for about two months now and its not bent or doesnt look bent and I have had no problems with it I went with mild steel cause chrome moly breaks if somehing goes wrong and if your K frame breaks your more or less screwed so atleast with the mild steel if I happen to bend it somehow I would be able hopefully drive it home.

I've heard that Chromoly is more britlle than the mild steel. I'd rather have something like that bend than crack

I had heard of these for Mustangs, but not for our cars. Who makes them? Where can I get info about them? Anybody got a link? Thanks.

I didn't use the rack option. I have the A-arms too just havent put them on yet I am waiting to buy the coilovers. I was waiting to find a cheaper price but I think I finally found somone cheaper. As far as tires I run a 255/40R17 on the front and a 285/40R17 on the back, the back rubs every now and then so I rolled the lip and its mostly ok now.
