This coming winter I really want to spend some time refinishing my GTA wheels. What I was planning was to replace the 16" GTA wheels with a set of 5 lug, 15" wheels/tires off of a '89 Grans Prix. This way I can keep my GTA wheels in my basement and work on them during the winter.

Would the smaller size wheels hurt my car's suspension during the winter? Unortunately I can't simply throw my car on stands because the garage I store it in is too small to let me even fit a jack in. I can barely open up my car door it is that tight. So, I have to have wheels and tires on the car. I understand that me speedo will be all out of whack, but I only will drive it to and from the garage once with the 15" Grand Prix wheels. What do you guys think....good or bad idea?

 

It wont hurt anything in your suspension, unless the tires have that much less diameter than your GTA rims to the extent that you bottom out and stuff. As long as you dont hit the bottom, you'll be safe for the winter. Good luck!

 

Yeah, sounds like a great idea; and you won't have to worry about ruining the old tires after the car sitting on 'em all winter!
