manual steering
just wondering has anyone switched to a manual steering gearbox? if so how is it?

i did, no big problems, but my car goes straight except for a turn off to the left a little more than 1/8" mile away from where i started

Axle/Gears: Ford 9"/31 spline spool/4.86
For street use it's not really recommended especially if you use large 16" tires on the front.
Fot trying to reduce weight in a drag car it's very easy to do. Look for an S-10/S-15 with a 4 cylinder in it. It should have a manual steering box. It's a direct swap into an f-body. You don't have to, but you should reuse the f-body pitman arm. It has a slightly different bend than the S-10's.

Best MPH on a time slip: 121.52 altitude corrected to 125.89
Altitude corrected rear wheel HP: 497.9
Best 60 foot: 1.546
Racing at 3500 feet elevation but most race days it's over 5000 feet density altitude!

Another option is a rack unit but you will have to go with the pa kit or create your own !
The S10 conversion is the cheapest and its easy to put on!
The real thing would be a power unit like on 88 ´Fieros (elektric) and make that speed senitive....america got that on the caddy´s i wonder when the industry is waking up????
