They definitely help. For some reason only IROCs were blessed with them as factory equipment, although they'll fit on a GTA just fine.

 

Made a world of difference on my 83 sport coupe. Another big improvement was a STB. The combination really tightened up the feel of the front end.

Okay, I have to ask. What is a wonderbar?

 

Wonderbar is a steering brace that GM only put on the IROCS. It uses the same mounts as the swaybar and provides support for the frame by the steering box. It ties both sections of frame together by the radiator which provides the strength necessary for running large tires under hard cornering without the steering box causing the frame to bow.

nice 83 sports coupe sharon! My berlinetta came with the same options as your sports coupe.I have added the 145 speedo 6000 redline tach,3 inch exhaust L69 aircleaner.Ive updated my car with the 85-87 front bumper.Im working on puting a 3:73 posi disc brake rear at the moment.Im also building my own ZZ4, cant wait i hear they run Good!
