Sportsman Pros or Nitto drag radials?

Which you think hook better the Sportsman Pros or the Nitto drag radials? I want a tire that I can occasionally drive on the street(maybe 15-20 miles a week) but hook at the strip.

Sportsman Pro's are a soft compound bias ply street tire. They're soft enough for the drag strip but are nothing like a slick since they are intended for street use only. They won't hook up like a slick since there isn't large areas of solid rubber for tread. They have full street tread.

Buy 2 sets of tires. One for the street and one for the drag strip. DOT slicks are only for those who race in a class that requires them to have a DOT tire. The tire itself is never intended for street use.

But do you think the Sportsman Pros would be better than the Nittos at the strip?

No. Nittos are a drag tire and Sportsman Pros are a street tire.

Try comparing a Nitto to an ET Street. That's a closer comparison and I'd prefer the ET street for the drag strip because it's a bias ply tire. Radial tires are too heavy and have stiff sidewalls to be a proper drag tire.

How come they say they have drag compound and wrinkle wall consruction(Sportsman pros) if they aren't good drag tires?

They're not a "drag" tire. They have a soft compound for better traction at the track but are designed for the street. They have enough tread design that you could drive on them in the rain. Regular street tires should last 50,000 miles. These tires may last 3,000.

Wrinkle wall construction is just a single ply bias tire sidewall.

If you want a drag tire then buy a drag tire. No tread patterns, solid rubber.
