IROC springs

just out of curiousity, is there a difference between the coil springs out of an 89 IROC and a 92 RS? I can get my hands on a set for cheap and just wanted to know if they would offer any kind of improvement

I recently upgraded my 89 RS springs to 87 IROC and there is a tremendous difference. The RS springs are much softer and roll much more in the curves. If you can the get the sway bars and the wonderbar of the IROC do that too, because it will totally change the way your car handles. It does make for a harsher ride though, but I was glad to give that up for the handling. After I put all the IROC stuff under my car, I went on bought a set of KYB struts and got some Bilstein rear shocks and they really hooked up the car, especially with the 17 X 9.5/17 X 12 wheels I have.

Hey, did you have to do anything to get those gigantor tires to fit? (and if so, what)

Enkil,
My fronts have 4" BS and the rears have a 6.5" , which I really wouldn't recommend to anyone unless you don't mind doing quite a bit of clearancing. I actually had to heat the inner fenderwells and actually stretch the sheel metal to fully clearance them. I had to notch the LCA's a little more than 1/2". But as I sit here, I can't make them scrub now. A thirdgen with that much B/S, by all practical means needs to have mini-tubs. But the effort was worth it, because the pictures don't really do the car justice, because the rear tires's section width is a little over 13", and they are just BARELY under the lip of the quarter panel. The front section of both of my wheels are the same offest which looks cool. Here's a recent pic since I lowered the car.

Oh, and BTW, I don't have IROC spring anymore I lowered it with Hotchkis springs since this post started.
