I was just wondering, what is the exact tire that came on the five-spoke Iroc 16x8 rims,
Is that tire still made, if so how much do they go for?

What is the biggest size tire I can get for these rims?

and

Will my acceleration be hurt by me getting tires speed rated at less than "Z" (149)?

the tires that came standard on thoes rims are size 245/50/16. I think they came with goodyears or something, but that doesn't matter. Getting non z rated tires will not effect your acceleration at all, that is the speed rating that the tires are "safe" for. I guess the higher the rating the stiffer and more durable the sidewalls are. If you're loking for new tires I'd stick with the Z rated ones, I've heard that the stronger side walls are better for cornering. I found a really good tire for my IROC on www.tirerack.com. They are Yokohama AVS intermediates, size 245/50/16, they were only $80 a piece which is the best deal I've seen for such an aggresive tire. You may not want to play with the tire size too much because when you change the size, you change the overall diameter of the wheel, (by making the sidewall larger or smaller). That can cause a loss of torque, (larger side wall) or can make your car peel out way too easy and get real ****ty highway mileage (smaller side wall). I had 255/55/16's on my car when I bought it and it was nice looking with those tires on it, but when I put the orginal size back on the car handled a lot better. Good luck with your tires and if you get a chance check out those yokahamas, they grip like hell!!

Yeah, I'm probably gonna get some 245's on there next spring when I can justify changing the tires... I just gotta convince the people that do the dirty work that I can put more than 235's on there... the only shop in town I trust told me I shouldn't put anything bigger than that on these rims, but 245 was stock... oh well

Actually I believe the RS's came with a different size tire in the later years. The z-28s got the 245/50/16s .Both used the 16x8 rims...but don't quote me on that..lol
