Re: Moog 5662 coil springs
first off stock springs are black... so if they are blue then either someone painted it or they are aftermarket... i have never seen blue springs so they may just be painted... i had both moog 5662 front springs and 5665 rear springs.... they are stock replacement but my ride height went way up... those moog 5662 springs are also the biggest pain in the *** job getting them in the a arm and indexed.. you NEED a compressor for those.. i had alot of fender gap and even more in the rear... it looked like a 4 by 4 even cut the rear springs and still sat too high.... i hated the look... so i went with eibach pro kit.... they look real nice on the car and look better if you replace the rear spring isolators with heater hose to drop it some more.. hardly any fender gap with the prokits and they just slipped right in... mind you with any spring change you will need an alignment.... ride height affects camber and your steering and handling will suffer....

Re: Moog 5662 coil springs
i just saw that you have a v6... moog 5662 (aka iroc springs) are v8 springs and are designed for the heavier v8 car.... if you put those in your car they may raise the car to a height that you will not like.... but im not sure on that...

Re: Moog 5662 coil springs
i dont really know anything about v6 thirdgens.... all the aftermarket springs ive seen are for v8s...... you sure that they are your springs and not your shock and struts..... usually those and sway bar endlinks do that... springs never really wear out... if they are you COULD you some lower control arm relocation brackets to restore your lost angles from your sagging springs....

Re: Moog 5662 coil springs
FYI, its probably not the springs making any noise at all. Shocks, struts, balljoints, and control arm bushings ect will make noise. Just a thought

Re: Moog 5662 coil springs
what 86 ta said... look under your car and looking at all the bushings... chances are they are all hard and cracked and out of grease.. bushings will defintely make noise and make the car feel mushy and sluggish... with a 20 plus year old car they all need replacing..

Re: Moog 5662 coil springs
also the car isnt moving, its only when im workong on the engine that when i crawl on it or if i sit on the car its when it does it, the only reason i took notice is because my 90 makes no noise at all when i do this but my 86 does.

Re: Moog 5662 coil springs
those are good shocks.... if i were you i would do the following
stock relacement springs
front end rebuild kit
complete bushing set poly preffered
tires
get it all aligned....
thats all you need really for a daily driver you really dont need aftermarket tubular stuff if your just commuting... if your into any kind of handling or want a corner craver then i suggest these
aggressive street alignment (vetrucks specs)
good tires
Front end rebuild kit
Adjustable Strut mounts
KYB GR-2 Front struts
KYB Gas-a-just rear shocks
lowering springs
36mm front sway bar with poly bushings
24mm rear sway bar with poly bushings
Steering Brace
Strut Tower brace
subframe connectors
aftermarket Torque arm
aftermarket panhard bar
aftermarket Lower Control Arms
lower Control arm relocation Brackets
i have all of these plus more but this is getting into extreme handling and it isnt cheap .... it does make the car feel way better than new.....

Re: Moog 5662 coil springs
worn out dry bushings make noise.... springs really dont make noise because the springs are still under enormous amount of pressure even in the air... there is no way they move.... they only way i can see them making noise is if there are no isolators or if they arent in there correctly and are torn....

Basic Rule:
Worn control arm bushings squeek when suspension is oscilating up & down.
Dry ball joint causes squeeks when turning.

Re: Moog 5662 coil springs
I have a 1991 V6: I bought Moog 5602 springs for the front from Summit- $92.95 the pair. Replaced the rears with Moog CC635 springs($61.95). Had to take a coil off the front and a coil and a 1/4 off the rear! The front isolators fell out in pieces and the rears WEREN'T EVEN THERE! I had a damn vibration at certain RPMs from the rear that I could never locate before I swapped in the springs. I used heater hose on front and rear and have lost that vibration thank god. It looks like it was the rear coil vibrating at the top, because it appeared loose when the car was sitting on the ground(!) so the shocks were carrying the car!! I now have the ride back where it was (so much for lowering it by cutting the springs) and with all new urethane bushings and shocks all round she rides like a new car!

Anyone got pics of just how high the moog springs jack up the rear. I need springs bad, don't want to lower or raise.

Re: Moog 5662 coil springs
Here is wat it was like about a week after it settled.. I 'appears' to have settled a bit more. To be exact, I put in 4th gen isolators as well so it may be lower for you. The exact measurements are on my site in my sig. Look for pics in the last section on their to get exact measurements.

Hope I didn't goof. The isolators were out of stock tho. Anyone get away with using the old ones? I can't get 'em local.

Re: Moog 5662 coil springs
you could use the old ones.. mine were still good IMO but I put the new ones in for the hell of it they are pretty cheap. The ones i got were for 4th gen tho and that's why my car sits slightly higher than it would have with the stock spring isolators. And no it's not 'too' bad but i was a bit sad when i saw it to be honest, i like it lower. That's why I'm going to get dropped spindles and cut the rear springs.
