Is 1G possible?

I'm trying to build one of the best handling f-bodies around. I'd love to pull 1G or slightly above on a skidpad. How can I get there?

here is a thread that is from the past few days, and a guy says with hotchkis rear suspension you can pull about 1 g.
https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/002921.html
I'm sure with some other mods, like a torque arm you could do it.

I have a Hot Rod article in which **** Guldstrand mods an '89 RS to run 1G on a skidpad. It's a pretty cool article. Let me know if anyone wants it.

I got my G-tech a few days ago and with my current setup I can hold a constant .86 G's.

It'll peak at .92 just as the rear end starts to slide out.

Keep in mind I have generic tires, and worn out stock springs & shocks. I think 1 G will be easy. I still have BFG comp TA's that I haven't put on yet.

I think I have a little better weight distribution than most Camaro's though because of the V-6, and battery re-location.

Can someone e-mail me and tell me how I can send this article out? It's huge, and I'm on a dial-up connection so it's going to take me hours to send it to everyone. Not to mention my PC abilities are limited to being able to turn the 'puter on and off. Sometimes I can't even accomplish that

1g was done back in 1983-1984 in the Gale Banks 200 mph twin turbo car. I think it was with Herb Adams parts.

Well, it isn't a thirdgen, but one of the Minnesota F-body Club members has a 96 Firehawk Convertible that is worked over quite a bit and he pulled 1.07 G on the skidpad!! He is a big roadracer guy and road trips his car to lots of Road courses around the nation...... Check out the MNFbody.com site - his car is the featured ride right now.........

1.0 is easy in a street car. It can be done with off the shelf parts and good street tires. Throw some Hoosier's shaved to 3/32 into the mix, you should see upward of 1.05 maybe 1.1 in a good car with a full cage.
