Weird sound from the rear... What can it be???

Hey,

A few days ago I starting hearing a weird sound coming from the rear end, hard to discribe the sound, it sounds like when a brake is sticking and it reverbs through the chassis ( I guess that is as close to describing it . I have a 3.27 Posi rear.

I only here it when I take a sharp right turn. Left turns are fine and straight away is fine. I am sure it's coming from the driver's side. What could it be? I did notice that I am dripping fluid at the bottom of the inspection cover. Tuesday I am going to be pulling the cover to take a peak...could it be serious??? Could it be low gear lube??

Ok...different twist in the problem.. tonight I took my car out for a drive...it is raining really hard and there is a lot of water n the roads. So I take the car around a large sweeping right turn ( an on ramp) and now the noise is not there any more! It was the same turn I took yesterday and the noise was there,,,only difference is that yesterday the roads were dry! What the hell is causing the noise!! ARRGGGHH..

If it was a wheel bearing or rear end problem wouldn't the noise be there regardless of water on the road??

you should get under there and look really closely. You could have a fifteen million dollar osama bin laden dragging from your axle. Worth kneeling down.

87 rocz, I think I am having the same problem as you.

From what I am guessing, it's either the diffrential, or u-joints. Hasn't rained much here, wonder if that would make my problem go away too. hmmm...

Still, I had my axle bearings replaced about 8 months ago, which stopped this problem almost entiely, but now it's back again. Im not sure if that means that was the problem, and they are already worn out again or not.

My rear tends to do the moaning when i hit uneven roads, or am making a u-turn the the left.

Sorry, wish I had more information! Ill post again once I can afford to have it looked at.

you guys make sure if you have limited slips get the GM limited slip aditive for the rear and put it in the fluid. Also make sure you have enough fluid in there. This sounds like the same problem a friend of mine was having.
