Alum engine parts, now she's sitting too high up front...

I took off the air pump stuff, put on a set of aluminum heads, and an aluminum water pump. I figure that's about 100 lbs off the front. I had the engine out for about a month, and since I put the engine back in a week ago, the front is sitting almost an inch higher than it used to. I don't have it running yet, and the hood isn't on either. Will the springs settle once I get this thing back on the road? And if I put on a fiberglass cowl hood, how much more weight is that gonna take off the front?

Whoa, an inch? You have stock springs? Does it look normal again when you sit on the front? The stock hood is very heavy, and a fiberglass hood will only contribute to your front-high problem.

Naw, I got Eibach sportlines. I tried sitting on it, bouncing it, etc. And even at 120 lbs I know I weigh more than that stock hood. I heard somewhere that I'd only lose 20 lbs for a cowl hood.

1 inch! sh*t I'm doing the same mods. Oh well looks like it's time for some new springs (still riding on the stock ones).
Your car should settle a bit once you take it for a spin but I dont know about it settling an inch.

For a more accurate picture of how high it will sit up in the front you'll have to roll it a few feet back and forth a couple of times so that the suspension will settle into its normal position. For a 100 lb weight loss up front I'd expect a ride height change somewhere between +3/8" (with Z28 springs) and +5/8" (base model springs).

I found the same on my 89 RS ZZ4TPI. I cut the stock RS front coils (one coil) and the ride height is perfect with my Jamex rear springs. I had what I thought were front springs for a 3rd but they were actually for a 4th gen. I know have the correct Jamex fronts but no spring compressor to put them in.

try rolling it forward and backward a bit. When I jack up my cars my front tires don't fully settle till I move it. Just an idea.
