wandering steering-shocks/struts to blame?

OK, I've got the familiar wandering steering problem. But, the mechanic told me my steering components are fine (except for the idler arm which was replaced) and I needed new front tires which I got.

Now the car only wanders on uneven and constantly bumpy roads. And as an aside, the car rides like a brick. It's got the WS6 suspension, but I don't think it's supposed to be as stiff as mine is.

Is it possible that worn shocks and struts won't rebound and push my wheels down towards the road resulting in this problem? I've still got the stockers on there with 90,000 miles on the clock.

What do you think?

Well I'm not sure if shocks and struts are to blame for the wandering steering, but I would say it is definately time for a change. I had mine replaced at around 95,000 miles and it made a world of difference.

Oh hell yeah, ditch those stockers!

Maybe the new idler arm tightened up your steering so much that the "wandering" is actually affecting the car. My guess is that your car always wandered, but the slop from the worn-out idler arm was absorbing it.
