ok a friend gave me new in box springs that were for his regular firebird v8 305 can i use for my 1987 gta? my question is about installed height not free height.
free height for stock is 13.01in.spring rate 649 lb\in
free height for for new is 14.88in. spring rate 421 lb\in
now both springs are applications for thirdgens.

will installing these change front ride height from what my gta is now?

if yes or no is the answer.. an explanation would be en lightning

it could, but would be hard to say, has a lot to do with weight.

the new springs is of a lighter rate, so it will compress more, but it taller.

just some quick basic math tells me that both springs should compress to a similar installed height with the same nose weight of the car, so the front ride height should/could be about the same.

the lighter longer new spring could help with weight transfer at launch, similar to a "trick" spring i believe.

 

considering that both are v8 springs the height shouldent be a problem. what you might run into though would be the rate being all wrong. if i remember correctly ws6 cars had a bit stiffer springs. so if you have thos rears you might find the tail of the car comming around more than you like.

good answers thanks. if they have the trick spring result i would actually be happy. the cars is made for straight line. so turning isn't a concern of mine it'sa third car of mine gets maybe 2,500 miles a year.
