Ok, my parking brake is either stupid or rusted. whenver i use it, and release it, it still holds, and i have to get under and jiggle the cables to get it to release, so i never use it. my question is how hard is it to replace? and i thought my uncle told me i would have to get it at the dealer, cause he thinks autozone doesn't carry it, (he used to work at autozone). also, the rear brakes adjust when u use the parking brake right? i remember hearing that GM screwed somethign up and u have to make an adjustment for this to happen correctly. is this true?

Parking brake cables should be available at almost any parts store. They don't take long to replace. The parking brake does adjust the rear brakes if you have discs.

If you have 82-88 rear disc brakes you may have the bad calipers which must be rebuilt or replaced to fix the problem.

 

so can 89 rear calipers be put on an 88?

hmm, well aren't 89's aluminum? so is there anyplace that makes aluminum calipers for 88? even if the cast ones will work

If you change the backing plates, you can mount newer calipers on an older rear end.

 

Whats the mod you have to make to your P Brake for 4th gen rearend? because im goin manual and with a remote start so i cant leave in gear all the time.
