Say I go to a junkyard, and find the dual-piston front calipers...

...am I correct in assuming I need the following from the junkyard car?

1. Calipers
2. Spindles

I'd buy new hoses and pads, of course! Do I need anything else (like rotors or prop valve)? What did those calipers come on, anyway... just trans am's and z28's?

You will also need the rotors & wheel bearings, but those you can also pick up at local parts store.Assuming you have disk/drum right now,you can use your existing prop valve and master cylinder as long as they are in good working order. These calipers only came on 1LE equipped F bodies, which are extremely rare to find in a junk yard anywhere. You will have a better chance finding the parts used from on line f body places that part them out or buying them all new (like I just did to finish my front upgrade).Good luck, you will need it for this one.

I actually have 4-wheel-disc right now... the rear calipers are rebuilt '84 units. I know it'll be a tough find, but my friend has a friend who knows of some obscure junkyards, we were talking last night of visiting them just for the hell of it over Xmas break. I wanted to be sure what I should pull from the car if I stumbled onto a major find!

Thanks!

hell if you find a car at the yard with dual-piston calipers, i'd say you should take the whole car and figure out what you CAN'T use afterward

If you find a 1LE car in a junk yard.Take the entire car home.Put it back together somehow. It will then be worth more than your car that you only wanted the parts for!
