Anyone remove an A-arm? need help

I have a 1983 Camaro and I'm in the process of removing the A-arm to get to the back of the motor mounts. I removed the stabalizer bar and the pivot bolt nuts, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the Pivot bolts out. The manual says to place a jack under the lower control arm/crossmember junction. Then raise jack to remove bolts, I've tried that but it's just not working. Where exactly do you place the jack?

Right.. You don't have to mess with any of the suspension to get to the mounts. They aren't as difficult as they look!

Now if you have some other reason for wanting to do this, what they're telling you to do, essentially, is to compress the spring and take the pressure off of those bolts you're trying to undo. I'd put the jack as close to the balljoint as is possible, and make sure you see the spring compressing. You don't want to lift the car up, just load the spring.

It is much easier if you remove the a-arms to get at the motor mounts. The man needs help and if you do not offer any help, you are no help.

Place the jack under the area of the a-arm nearest the bolts. Take the pressure off the bolt my jacking just slightly past tight (do not raise the car with this jack). Obviously remove the nuts and the bolts should come out with some muscle. If they do not come out adjust the jack until you can turn the bolt by hand and try again. It is ok to force them out with a hammer as long as you aren't a goon about it.

Slowly lower the jack when you are done removing the bolts and the spring will decompress in the a-arm. Be careful, this is kind of dangerous if you go too fast.

Now you have easy access to the nuts for the motor mounts. Reverse procedure to put a-arm back on.
