Will any benifit come from boxing the stock panhard bar??

Just for a temperary improvement I was considering boxing the stock panhard bar till I get the cash to buy a good aftermarket one. Will any benifit come from boxing it?

I think if you have a welder and can use it, and you have the scrap metal laying around and you do it yourself, it's worthwhile. If you're gonna pay someone to box it, I'd just save up and get a good aftermarket one.

A boxed panhard bar is better than a stock panhard bar. A good aftermarket bar is better than a boxed factory bar.

yes I plan on doing it myself and yes it is only a temperary thing untill I get an aftermarket one. But I don't want to waste my time if no benifit will come of it.

You won't even don't notice a difference with an aftermarket rod. The reason that aftermarket rods are better than stock is the fact that the aftermarket rods are adjustable in length. The strength difference wouln't be noticable until you're pulling well over 1 G.

If you want to box it, go for it, but as you will see, you won't notice a difference.

Thanks Bro that's what sort of reply I was looking for. I wasn't sure if aftermarket ones even made a difference. Guess it's pointless to waste my time then.

How about boxing the LCA's will I see an improvement in stiffness??

I think this MUST be a worthwhile improvement.. The aftermarket ones aren't adjustable (Are they?) and I don't think weight is much of an issue as the stock ones seem to be pretty light. Anyone tried this and have results to report? Does everyone agree that boxing the panhard rod is pointless?

In the latest copy of GMHTP, there's a writeup on a thirdgen with supposedly boxed FRONT control arms. How the heck would you DO that?

I'd have to disagree, and no, not because I build them. Take out a car with a stock panhard bar and do some major hard cornering, then do the same in a car with a good tubular panhard bar. The difference in stability is quite evident.

Boxing the stock units is better then nothing, it will give you some improvement. Just watch when welding on them, if you get them too hot the bushings will melt out and then you're screwed
