Front Strut replacement question
Do you need a sping compression machine? and can in be done without a lift?

No compressor or lift required. Modified Macpherson strut can easily be changed without special tools.
Jack up car and support by lower control arm and remove wheel.
Unbolt brake flex line. Unbolt 2 large lower mounting bolts (I think they are 15/16").
Unbolt upper strut rod nut, and the strut will fall out.
Jack up car and support by lower control arm and remove wheel.

just jack up the car, put it on jackstands, and support the a-arm you are working on with the floor jack. dont forget this part, the spring and everything will blow out once you remove the strut bolts if you dont support the arm. I actually had a brain fart and did just that a couple weeks ago when tearing apart the front of my 92. It was interesting to say the least.
