Suspension Upgrade?

I've recently been considering a rear suspension upgrade for my 86 Iroc, since its completly stock, and was wondering what some options are and their pros, cons, and how will they improve my handling. A friend of mine told me that I should get a 4 link set up, but I don't know much about them. Any suggestion?

Re: Suspension Upgrade?

I've never had a four link on a car before, but for my suspension I have an adj. torque arm, adj. panhard bar, lower control arms with relocation brackets, subframe connectors, and a wonderbar all from umi performance along with polyurethane bushings. I love the way the car handles and I don't have anything bad to say about it.

Re: Suspension Upgrade?

for handling, the stock style torque arm suspension is FAR superior to a 4 link, and you cant just convert this car to a 4 link without cutting the entire back half of the car off and starting over.

first things first, good tires and shocks and struts, spend as much as you can afford here.

Re: Suspension Upgrade?

Could it be he means the vette rear IRS? Thats been done, but yea its fabrication required. I know there are some factory prototypes and mules with IRS for the third gen cars, but not sure if it was ever compared to the stock live axle and torque arm.
