Spindles

Has any one ever replaced the spindles on these 3rd gens? I have a 92 that I'm about to replace both spindles and just looking for a little advice to make this go a little smoother. Thanks

Re: Spindles

why are you replacing them? they dont usually do bad? are the damaged?

i've had mine off a few dozen times, its not difficult. Just be sure to support the a-arm when you remove the strut or the spring will come flying out.

Re: Spindles

Its pretty easy. Basically you take the caliper off, the rotor off, then put a jack under the control arm, then pop the ball joint out of the spindle, then unbolt the two bolts that hold it to the strut.

I like to take an old seat belt, or even rope, anything and tie it through the spring and out the bottom of the control arm. This is just to try to capture the sping should it fly out.
