Easier with motor out?

I'm currently rebuilding my motor and have it out of my camaro. Is it any easier to rebuild the front end (bushing shocks and springs) with the motor out, or about the same either way? My motor should be back from the machine shop wednesday, and I really want to get it knocked out, but if its easier to do my front end with it out I will be patient. What does the general population say?

You can replace everything but some of the bolts should not be fully tightened until the engine is back in and the car is sitting on it's wheels. Check your manual which ones.

Re: Easier with motor out?

The motor isn't really in the way of any front end type parts all that much.

However, I'd STRONGLY recommend changing out your motor mounts; and they're AHELLUVALOT less if a hassle to get off while the control arms are off. So I'd say, go ahead and do the front end while the motor is out.

Make sure you get a GOOD spring comrpessor though, because you probably won't have enough weight to compress new springs enough to put the strut back on the spindle. You'll need for the compressor to be stout enough to do that work for you, but still be able to get it back out after it's all assembled.
