If it's stock, your not making enough power to need one - why bother on a 235hp car?

Just get the proper one that bolts to the floor.

camaronewbie, here's a couple reasons why he may need to run a loop. These might not be up to date but it's what I found really quick, from '07.

13.99 Drive shaft loop (slicks)
11.49 Drive shaft loop (street tires)

It isn't stock it has a turbo charged LQ4 and my track requires it.

1. I have a Longtail TH400 and nobody makes a crossmemeber with it built in.
2. I have the lakewood one but with my exhaust and tranny combo it doesn't fit correctly.

Sooooooo the question still remains. Will I be okay going to the TA like the aftermarket ones?

Not sure how NHRA rules are. Most aftermarkets are on the crossmember or bolted to floor. Try checking out ebay. I saw some of the ones for 3rd or 2nd gens that bolt of your trans mount. Maybe it could be extended to be made work and cheap. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/67-81...item25582e9d53. I asked a friend and thats the one he made work in his second gen with a long tail 400. Good Luck

Re: Driveshaft loop on stock TA

im making a bunch more power than stock and i have never really considered a safety loop... i always thought that was more of a drag racing type safety equipment..... and the ones that ive heard say they are poor fitment issues and causes vibrations and may interefere with the driveshaft itself.... besides how often do you hear peoples u-joints are sooo bad that it causes the driveshaft to disconnect and fall out.... thats what its really for...

Its not a matter of u-joints being bad, its the part failing, or something else like the rear or trans breaking causing it to come off. I had a stock rear blow once and blow the driveshaft off on a 12 second street car, not pretty, nice big tear in the floor. He runs at a track and its required.

Re: Driveshaft loop on stock TA

It is not a bad idea to run just for safety issues. You can make your own with thick enough metal and a torch to heat it up to bend. that way you can make it clear. Then bolt it inside to your floorboard and you'll be set.
