strut removal wooooahsss

Car: 1988 Gta trans am
Engine: LR4 4.8
Transmission: 98-02 t56 6 speed
Axle/Gears: Bw 9 bolt (3.70’s) pbr rotors
strut removal wooooahsss

hey everyone im looking into doing the struts on my 89 gta i got alot of ride bobbing in the front when i go over bumps is the struts hard to do or am i better off sending it to a shop to do it i know im going to need a spring compressor to do it or could i do it by taking stress off the suspension an let the lower control arm hang down while doing it or will the spring still fly out i dont want to die by a spring anytime soon so please give feed backs asap looking to start this job asap

THey're not too bad...

Take the stress off of the strut by jacking the car up by the control arms; NOT let it hang. From there it's pretty straightforward.

No need for a spring compressor or to remove the spring.

With a jack supporting the a-arm, just unbolt the strut, pull it out & replace. The spring can stay in place & stay compressed.

You may have to rest the car on a jack stand & let the a-arm come down some to get the strut in place, but no need to remove the spring.

^ This, no need to mess with the spring for this job. Just did a set yesterday
