worth replacing track bar?

I have overhauled almost all suspension components but this is an OEM restoration/replacement and not an upgrade. Track bar does not have replacable bushings (or so it seems to me) so how much of an improvement will I see if I were to replace the track bar altogether? Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Re: worth replacing track bar?

Even at stock height on stock wheels, stock sized tires & a stock PHB (Panhard Bar - what you termed Track Bar), my rear end housing was offset to the drivers side by almost a full inch. I never noticed until I put 17" wheels w/285 tires on. Then it was pretty obvious.

Re: worth replacing track bar?

OK thanks for the reply but as I am not too experienced in suspension, what is your advice?

Re: worth replacing track bar?

If you are still on stock wheels & tires, you can use a plumb bob (washer tied to a string works just fine) hanging off the side of the quarter panel will tell you where your rear end is. Compare the 2 sides & you'll know if yours is off center or not. Then you will know if you need a APHB or not. And honestly....If it is just s driver & not "raced", then you don't need one. I only needed one in order to fill my 11" wheels w/315 series tires. This is my 6th(i think) 3rd gen which included 2 that were almost autocross-only cars & I didn't have one on them. Would have helped a tad I'm sure, but I didn't. I didn't NEED to.

How do you know which one he was talking about?
I have an aftermarket track bar(the upper bar) that bends down lower then stock (right side of pic) to allow dual exhaust to run up over it if a person wanted.
Lower bar is panhard bar and you can see how an aftermarket one is adjustable.

I wouldn't worry about sticking out different amounts on each side. My problem was rubbing with wider tires on the inside. That's what I adjusted for.
On a stock car neither should reall be a problem.

Re: worth replacing track bar?

Thanks for the input however I must mention that the nomenclature is rather different in the rock auto parts: Sway bar is the U-shaped one (on which bushings are replacable) and the Track bar is the straight one (on which bushing are NOT replacable). I am talking about the Track bar as I am concerned with the quality of the non-replacable bushings since they are on it since 1991.

they are replaceable, i had Energy suspension poly ones in my stock bar years ago. The stock ones will come out, but its a bitch.

the track bar is also called a panhard bar.
