Astro Van steering shaft bearing

I've had trouble with my original steering column, and at this point it's not worth trying to rebuild it. I found a guy with a 96 Camaro to sell me the steering column out of it. I have a 93 Jeep Cherokee that I will get the intermediate steering shaft from. As far as the bearing goes, I haven't been able to find a junkyard that has an Astro Van or one that is willing to sell me just the bearing. I have a bearing #FW184 from AC Delco but I don't know if this will work yet. I've seen it posted that #7805700 is the correct bearing, but some people said it didn't fit. Also, whenever I get the correct bearing, will it work with the cap/retainer on my Trans Am, or will I have to find one from an Astro Van?

Astro vans are plentiful at the local pick and pulls, so I can't be helpful in that regard. Info on the cap and so forth below. Note that they aren't all the same:

Maybe something useful on the Jeep shaft below, if you haven't seen it:

Re: Astro Van steering shaft bearing

I got the new steering column put in today. The steering is a lot tighter and easier to turn now. I didn't need an Astro van bearing like I've seen posted before. The only parts I needed were the steering column and the intermediate shaft.

No, you didn't need the Astro bearing, but it is an improvement over the OE plastic bushing.
