Strut install question
Alright, finally got my yellow koni's in, now its time to put it all back together. I'm having an issue trying to tighten the top strut bolt in the bearing plate. I feel like a dummy, but i'd rather not waste anymore time, but the strut shaft just keeps spinning. I read on here that reusing that old dust shield is next to impossible, is that why I cant find anywhere to latch on to keep it from spinning? Does anyone have any pictures of a setup with the accordian style dust boot and how it mounts up?? Any help is appreciated, I haven't driven this in months and i'm getting that itch!!!

Re: Strut install question
There's flats on the top of the shaft that can be gripped with a wrench. Not sure how easy this can be done with regular tools, as I use an obstruction socket.
I've also grabbed the upper part of the shaft from underneath (that just sounds bad) with rubber palmed gloves, and used an impact gun on the top.

Re: Strut install question
I just installed a set a few weeks ago. I just hand tightened the nut and then I was barely able to get a small socket (forgot what size) to fit the flat spots on top of the shaft to hold it. I then used a wrench to tighten the nut while holding the shaft with the socket/ratchet.

Re: Strut install question
With the weight of the car fully on the wheels, short bursts with an air impact gun will tighten up the strut rod nut. Just don't spin the rod at high speed, or you will heat up the seal and damage it.
