How hard is it to change front top strut mounts?

I've got a new pair of front strut mounts and want to change them. I was wondering if it's something I can do myself. Do i need spring compressors?

the spring isn't on the strut, so i wouldn't think you'd need a compressor other than a floor jack under the balljoint to take the stress off the balljoint..

Takes 10 minutes, literally. Jack up the car, place jack under A-arm. Remove top strut nut. Compress strut and push the rod aside. Remove the 3 nuts for strut mount. Install is reverse of removal. Of course you will need to get an alignment afterwards though.

mark the positions of the old strut mounts before you remove them so you get the new ones as close as possible helping with alignement ... this is if you replace with the same type strut mounts.

you can put the car on jack stands at the frame. You need a hand jack under the front control arm to support the spring and tension. The strut can be compressed with your hands and the strut mount can be safely removed as long as the control arm is supported
