What are Monroe Shocks like?
Looking to replace my stock rear shocks. Because the ride is very harsh. I got Monroes, how are they ride wise?

Good for a soft ride, but not what belongs on a performance car.
Typically the rear is not that stiff, so softer shocks may not be your problem.
Sometimes worn shocks allow bottoming which feels harsh on impact, but are the result of being too soft.

They have about as little dampering as possible on both compression and rebound. The resistance is just enough that when they are new they keep a tire from bouncing off the ground going down the hwy for about 30K miles

Re: What are Monroe Shocks like?
Yup; just, yerbasic stock replacement. Better than OE ones, which for all practical purposes ceased to have any meaningful function within about 10,000 miles and have been nothing but dead weight ever since, and better than some other "replacements" such as Gabriel :barf:, but not "performance" by ANY stretch of the imagination.
They'll help the ride, if the cause of its current condition is lack of damping.

it really depends on what you're looking for. Stock type ride or slightly better... they're OK. If the car is lowered and/or stiffer springs... probably not the best choice. Back in the day Monroe Formula GP's were the only really good performance choice for these cars, but that hasn't been for like 20 years, I'm not sure that they still even make them.

Re: What are Monroe Shocks like?
I had them on my other car and they weren't that good. The best part is that they are cheap. I would say to try the factory struts if they're affordable. If not, go with a different brand.
