OE 1LE and WS6 shocks & struts part#? Better than stock??

Anyone have the original equipment part# for the shocks and struts that came stock on Camaro's 1LE and Bird's Ws6? If I am not mistaken, their suspension were firmer than other's production F-body... With that said, if they were different, are they worth buying as a performance oriented improvment such as Koni & Bilstein? Or they are not any better than Moog or AC Delco's??

I did find some part#'s for the Goodwrench but there are no information regarding 1Le application.

Any infos would be most welcomed!

here is the front strut Part# I came accross: GM#88945820
My local GM dealer do not have any suspension parts left and referred me to GM vintage 1-800 phone# (nothing there) & carquest seller says that he is listed for 1LE and non-1LE one's but the 1LE are not in his system anymore, looks like discontinued or something...

I "think" the 1LE struts/shocks were slightly better than stock. Though not by much. The 1LE package back in the day was mostly to fix the issues that raced showroom stock F-bodies had (brake fade, hence the better brakes. As well as the baffled fuel tank).

Having said that, a Koni or Bilstein today will be light years better than a brand new 1LE optioned car back then. Just as a Koni or Bilstein made today will be better than a Koni or Bilstein sold then. They've upgraded their technology over the years.

But since pretty much everything is 82-92 now when it comes to suspension, you might as well just get the best value for your dollar and go with a Koni or Bilstein. I don't think you'll be happy putting a 20-25 year old NOS suspension piece in your car (if you can even find them)

It's sort of like comparing a Gatorback vs a GS-D3 tire. The Gatorbacks were "Corvette" performance. And good for over 200 mph. But in today's world, a Gatorback is old news. While the GS-D3 will out perform it in the dry and the rain.

Yeah there is no doubt about the newest technology, I am sure that there was some upgrades over the years with such companies like Koni that surely want to deliver the maximum quality performance oriented to withstand the competition!

But I was wondering how much more performant they were...Obviously, our 3rd gen cannot compare with the coil over (Macpherson), and other indepandant suspension package from other newer cars such as vette, G8 etc. With that said, if someone is retaining the stock style suspension system, except for firmer ride, what other major benefits are worthed paying the extra $$$? I know that the B4C came with the Bilstein option tough.

Was just seeking different option, have some friends that doesn't want to spend top dollars but would like something better than Gabriel or the Nappa version

I did found the 1LE shocks & struts for fairly cheap at gmpartsgiant.com
