Tokico HP or KYB GR2/Excel-G?

Hello Third Gens,

It's time to replace my shocks & struts on my 1990 IROC. I have narrowed my options down to the Tokico HP or KYB GR2/Excel-G. Are the Tokico's worth the $220 difference? I'm just looking for a smooth ride nothing too firm.

Thanks All.

I would think the Tokico's are better but I've had KYB GR2s on my car for years...They have a very firm.

Avoid the Tokico's. They are a good shock but the customer service in my experience flat out sucks. Tokico claims a lifetime warranty but will not honor it. Covers manufacturers defects only, when I called for warranty service they flat denied coverage due to age. For the money if you're going to spend it go straight to the Koni's and be done with it. A true lifetime warranty.

My dad had the GR2's on his car and they sucked. He was lowered on pro kit springs and his car bottomed out over the smallest of bumps. He went through 3 sets in 5 years before he went to Bilsteins.

That's strange my is lowered 1" on Hotchkis springs with KYB GR2s and have had no such issues.
