Custom sfc's

Ok so my rust project is almost complete i want to put sfc on my 88 gta but instead of paying 200 bucks for some bmr or umi ones, my buddy at his metal shop said he will make me a set for a 30 case of beer an some cash so i need to know if i should have him make them for the inner frame rails to the rear frame rails style or should i just have him make ones that tie into the rocker panels im gonna bolt them in first an then drive over to him an he will weld them in then finish my por 15 make over on the floors

Re: Custom sfc's

I would think that the steel tubing would cost $30-50 so plan on paying this guy. A few members have made their own and have commented on how time consuming it is. Check out the fabrication section. I think that FueledSoul did a set in a thread. To me the price of SFCs may be a little high but your getting a piece that you know will fit in no problems and is powder coated instead of painted. If you watch the for sale section you can find a pair in a month. The debate of inner vs outer SFCs is long. I think in the end most people go with outers because they don't hang as low as inner SFCs do. I have outers by UMI and have been happy. Right now you can buy them from UMI 15% off and $10 shipping, a rally good deal.
