dumb question on replacing front struts

dumb question on replacing front struts

have to do mine on the fly, dont have a lot of tools with me, or really any space (on a trip now), is there a way to replace them without taking off all the brake assembly? sorry. searched the hell out of the site, and in the haynes as well.

I do not know why that tech article is used. What the heck is a A-arm "Bulb"? lmao- Does he mean under the spring pocket, because that would be wrong also. The floor jack ( Not a 3rd jack stand) needs to be placed with the jack cup under the ball joint of the A-arm and then lifted about 1" from its lowest droop before loosening the two spindle-to-strut bolts.

Do not place a jackstand under the spindle (of the rotor? again this makes no sense). You do not want pressure underneath the spindle when you try and remove those bolts. You want the spindle to flop about freely with the jack supporting under the A=aem so as not to allow the A-arm to drop and the spring come shooting out of there.

PS- There is no such thing as a dumb question. Its dumb NOT to ask when you are not sure of something.

Anyone need a great reference source- I have discovered a free public access link to any Chilton manual by first going to the Butler County Federal Library webpage for Bulter Pennsyvania (I am in Southern California- so how I found that souce I do not recall) but they pay for usage fees for Butler county residents to access Chilton service manual. You have to enter through the library link near the bottom of the webpage or else if you go directly to CHilton you will have to pay to use it.
