Need to identify a part
Bare with me, I'm trying to figure out a part in the rear end of the car, its a bar that goes end to end near the gas tank but doesn't actually support the gas tank. It has 3 bolts in a triangle pattern on either end. I'm trying to identify it because it's rotting and want to put it on my list of repairs especially since it seems easy to access once I drop the rear for work.
The only details I can provide:
1. Its stock
2. (was) black in color now flaking off
3. 3 bolts on either end hold it in, looks pretty thick, bolts are in a triangle pattern. I'll try to get a picture of it if no one knows what it is.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Need to identify a part
It's a chassis brace. Keeps the 2 sides of the back of the car (which of course are made of nothing more substantial than sheet metal) the right distance apart.
It's fairly thick. If that's so bad rotted that it needs replaced, I'm thinking the rest of the car, which is MUCH thinner, is so invisible that it doesn't matter too much whether that bar is even there or not.

haha, surprisingly the body panels are in great shape and the under body isn't to bad, some spots are worse than others. The bar is fine except for the one end that has the 3 bolts on it, the rust really tore up one part of the brace where the bolts are which is why I'm concerned. Other than that, the rust is pretty average for the car with the exception of the floor pans which I have no problem replacing. That's all the body work it needs

I was poking around ebay and found the part, it appears to be a track bar bracket

I bet you can get one from a member on here for near nothing... I use to have a few but i always just toss them... I boxed one of mine, they are put there to help support the bracket that the lower bar bolts to - with out the upper bar on hard cornering you'll flex the mounting location.
Re: Need to identify a part
That is the panhard rod support brace. We sell a panhard rod relocation kit that will replace the stamped steel brace with a tubular still part and drop the panhard rod a little lower to clear dual 3-inch exhaust over the axle.
To my knowledge, there are no direct replacements for this bar, other than these relocation kits. Ours will also work with lowered vehicles.

Re: Need to identify a part
IIRC there was a company that made a direct replacement that was boxed and powdercoated but it was crazy expensive, I think I remember reading that they stopped because no one would buy them haha. You can probably just score one at the junkyard and box it, clean it up and paint it all pretty for peanuts, or the PHR relocation kits are nice because you have more exhaust clearance and it changes the rear roll center so you can run bigger springs/ sway bars back there, a lot of people use it to mess with suspension geometry and balance the car out.

Re: Need to identify a part
This is all awesome information, that BMR one up top there seems a bit pricey for my current budget but definitely might be in the cards for the future, now that I got that lead I'm prolly gonna grab a decent used one and clean it up. This is why I love this forum thanks a lot guys! Out of curiosity, I mentioned earlier my floor pans are fubar'd as the previous owner parked it on grass while trying to sell it, the body itself is in good shape so I'm up for repairing the rusty underside, would anyone suggest me actually replacing the pans or weld in some sheet metal and call it a day?

Got any pics of your underside so we can see what you are going to be dealing with?
