perpetually loosening wheel
I drive a 1992 Camaro RS. I recently replaced my wheel bearings and races because they had become too worn out to properly adjust. All was well and fine for about 3 days. Since then the nut responsible for securing the rotor to the axle keeps loosing itself until my wheel developed a dangerous 1'' play. I have re-tightened the nut several times and have the castle nut and cotter pin properly seated. When i re-tighten the nut the wheel wobble is eliminated.
What is causing this nut to loosen up after only a few hundred miles? What can I do to correct the situation?
Thanks!

Re: perpetually loosening wheel
A castle nut with a cotter pin through it can't loosen without the pin shearing. You've done something wrong in installation.

yea, like some of the others, I'm kind of curious what you're doing... with the cotter pin installed (nut properly installed...) it can't come loose, I don't think you could shear the pin trying to remove it with an impact gun, much less just driving it.

Re: perpetually loosening wheel
it would seem that the races were not properly seated and were indeed pushing in as i drove. That is what caused the space and the wobble. A bit of adjustment fixed her right up! Thanks guys
