Re: Koni yellow strut boots?

I'm seeming to recall that whenever I've changed mine, I had to reuse those... AFAIK my stock ones are still there... didn't too much matter what brand... but I could be wrong, maybe some brands come with em

The stock boots off the original struts work fine. If you're going to run aftermarket upper strut mounts, then you need to leave the strut boots off.

I am going to run Founders strut mounts. (If they ever ship them more on that shady story later.)

Why leave the boots off?

As far as I know, the OE plastic boots interfere with after market mounts. I left the boots off my Koni Yellows/Founders combination. No issue.

Re: Koni yellow strut boots?

Well because I do take road trips in my car I was worried about it. I may actually have to drive in the rain through a construction zone. LOL

I guess I will not worry about it and sleep well because they have a lifetime guarantee.

Thanks again guys.

Also my big suspension rebuild will not happen this 3 day weekend because founders did not bother telling me they did not have the parts in stock until today after I called 2 times and emailed at least 2 times. Funny thing was they charged my card last Wednesday the day I placed the order so I thought they shipped. They should have sent an email telling me about the back order instead of charging my debit card.

They did offer a refund today but did not even bother to say they where sorry about not telling me about a delay of 10 days.

I had ths same issue with hotparts. But I called and politely explained that I had the car scheduled to go to the body shop and they rushed me a fresh set. I ordered on 4/4 and They arrived on 4/18. Put everything together that weekend and drove body shop monday for frame repair.

I also had the same question about my konis and dust boots. My search led me to several threads where people recommended using rubber boots like a baja truck has. Found some at advance auto for $12 or $14 that worked for me. I was sold on the thought of do I really want to leave my almost $500 struts completely open to the elements?

Re: Koni yellow strut boots?

Well I don't have a dead line like that. Plus they are in CA and I am in MS so shipping is going to take at least 4 days. He told me on the phone yesterday they will have them from the powder coaters Wed or Thursday. I will get them next week actually over 2 weeks from order date. I get a 3 day weekend every other week.

If they told me that last week when I ordered I would have canceled the order and ordered someplace else. Hell if they would have answered my email or returned one of my calls last week I would have canceled. If they would have showed out of stock on their site I would not have ordered.

After this mess: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...-question.html

The only other place I know of is Spohn and I truly think they are WAY over priced. Still would have bought them to get it done this weekend if I had known.

I should have saved this for a vendor review and not here but as you can tell I'm a little pissed. Better for them I put it here where google does not get it to the top.

Ground control managed to tell me about their late ship date and they are shipping today or tomorrow priority mail so I have them. (They don't have to now.) I ordered from them the same day as my founders order. LOL They also still have not charged my debit card. They are a top notch company I have no problem spending money with.

Back on topic;

With my extra time I am going to order some "baha style" boots for them.

Thanks all,

.
