I was going thru my front end. The intent is to replaces some worn out parts and restore like new handling.
I have already purchased KYB GR2 struts and gas a just shocks. I planned to keep the original WS6 springs but now I see that one half of a coil is broken into the seat on one side.
I was looking at MOOG 5662 but I don't know if they would be an exact replacement for my car.
I'd hate to see it ride even higher than already is... I kinda seem to remember that old springs tend to sag, so even an exact replacement with new insulators would ride higher, but if this is a heavy duty replacement the car would eventually sit higher no?

They're not an "exact" replacement. You wouldn't want that anyway; after all, you're REPLACING the originals.

They're AHELLUVALOT better.

Throwing around a bunch of buzzwords like "WS6" doesn't really have much to do with it.

Yes any old wore-out stock springs will sag, even if they haven't finished breaking yet.

5662 is one of the commonly used replacements for these cars. 5664 is the other. Either one will almost certainly raise your car from where it is now. They will however lower it from where it was WHEN NEW.

 

To answer your question, I have an 89 GTA 350 with A/C......I also have the Moog 5662 springs on the front. It changed my front end heights by +0.5" on the left side and -0.25" on the right side.

My current heights are 27.3" left and 27.5" right.

The 5662 are a nice upgrade. They're a bit firmer. But not really any harder. It takes the bumps better than it did with the old springs. The car feel straighter.

 

You might consider eibach pro kit. I think you would like them. They might maintain your current ride height. IMHO stock springs are to high. Good luck!

I found a great price on e-bay for some pro-kits (new old stock).
Since I'll use founders camber plates I'll need now to find a suitable boot even if they don't recommend running one.

I want to stay away from the kind which zip ties to the strut body. That would do more harm than good by trapping moisture.

 

if the Moogs sit too high, then just pull them out, cut off half a coil, and reinstall.

is there a chart anywhere on this site of all the different Moog springs that fit these cars? F body, G body, and S series trucks are all based on the same basic architecture, and there might be some other application that will fit, like the chopped 55 Nomad springs that i was running in my 71 Nova...

 

Those are leaf spring cars, kinda unlikely that any of those will work in these cars. S trucks as well, leafs in the rear.

Yes there are LOTS of charts. People have posted them quite a number of times, here and elsewhere, esp G body sites. A quick search on something like "spring rate chart" should yield plenty of results.

 

the front springs are coils, and i read somewhere (maybe on this site) that the stiffest front springs that are a "drop in" into a 3rd gen would be found in a loaded 4.3 powered 2wd S series truck.
i was just wondering if there was a sticky for the different springs, since i see it asked so many times...
