steering gear box 2 types

Engine: 350
Transmission: Turbo 200C
Axle/Gears: 3.43
steering gear box 2 types
i have an 82 Z28. my gear box is the 4 bolt cover. i have a retaining ring cover housing just sitting here. does anyone know what the difference is between the two? can i put this in my car with no issues?

Pictures in the first link are late model steering boxes designed to be used on third gens.
Second link looks like earlier steering boxes which will have smaller input and output shaft sizes. They might bolt on but the steering shaft and pitman arm will probably not fit.
