4th gen front susp. on a third gen ?
4th gen front susp. on a third gen ?
I'm new to 3rd gens (had car 1 month now) and I know a lot of parts can be swapped. I found a complete front end setup from a 94 formula on craigslist for $200 and wondered if this is a good deal and how mutch I can use. It includes k-member, a-arms, springs, struts, spindles, rotors, calipers, and swaybars. my car is an 86 ws6 with a carbed 383.I'm running c-5 5 spokes so my rims would still work. What about the steering ? or should I just swap the spindles, struts etc. The parts have 86k on them. Any info is greatly appreciated, thanks !
Re: 4th gen front susp. on a third gen ?
4th gens use a double A-arm shock setup
3rd gens use a single lower A-arm connected to the strut
They won't work without major suspension changes, nothing will interchange at all.
The rear suspension is different, the panhard bar and rear lower control arms do interchange; but there's nothing special about the 4th gen vs. 3rd gen rear suspension. Besides a few exceptions they are all stamped steel and are just better off being replaced with aftermarket items.
