Lower Control Arm bracing?

Facing extensive issues with my floorpan, especially the lower control arms. The driver's side is still attached, however on the passenger side I removed part of the subframe so it hangs disconnected. From what I'm aware, it's a tricky situation as the passenger LCA would need to be aligned pretty exact due to the geometry of the suspension. However would it be possible to run a brace between the two control arms to keep the passenger side in position, while welding in good subframe pieces?

Re: Lower Control Arm bracing?

Since the LCA is the part that transmits 100% of the acceleration and braking force from the axle to the body, I doubt seriously that a side-to-side brace would be effective, at any weight you would care to include in your rolling package.

Sounds like your car is a typical salt-belt victim... probably best, and less costly, to troll CL in Atlanta, Dallas, Huntsville, Charlotte, etc. and find a NON-ROTTED-OUT hull you can transfer all of your whatever salvageable parts you have; and throw your existing wasted and unsalvageable hulk in the trash.

Re: Lower Control Arm bracing?

I meant just temporary bracing to line up the new floorpan/subframe areas for welding... I've been looking desperately for every and any solution to avoid stripping it but I guess I'm just beating a dead horse. I just hate seeing it sit and rot when it doesn't look like much to really fix, but then again, I'm not a fabricator.
