Anybody run a pinto rack on the street?

I'm doing an LS1 swap with a tubular k-member and was thinking about going with a pinto rack. Just wondering if anyone runs one of these racks on the street? Any likes or dislikes? I have found limited choices so far with LS1 swap k-members with a pinto rack as an option.

Well ALOT of Pintos used to run those...

Ask any Pinto owner.

Maybe there's a message hidden in there somewhere?

Most R&P steering doesn't move the steering linkage ANYWHERE NEAR as far as the worm & sector system. They tend to need spindles with MUCH shorter steering arms. Therefore changing over to that is more involved than just bolting it to the K-member.

The Pinto steering setups for race cars are just that; for race cars. Specifically for ones that only go STRAIGHT and only need to turn a small amount to keep from hitting the wall. This is one of those things where just because "all the fast cars at the track have it", doesn't make it A Good Idea for every street car.

By limited choices. I ment with LS motor mounts. If I was running a sbc. There would be more choices. Also I forgot to mention that my car would be lucky to see 1000 street miles a year. It's just a toy to cruise a little bit and take to the drag strip.

That's a nice setup you have there. I wanted to run the racecraft k member but it's not available with LS motor mounts for whatever reason.

Most people response that I have read on here is that is tough, but I can't say that, it is not power steering, but it is no harder than all the manual steer cars that I have ever owned.
I know when I first changed over I had bought a grant steering wheel which was smaller that the factory steering wheel, at this point it was hard turning.
I bought a new steering wheel that was about factory size and that made all the difference
