Lowering a 6cyl car. Will lowering springs work?
I have an '87 2.8L camaro that I want to lower.
I'm thinking that all the lowering springs out there are made for the weight of an 8cyl engine. And that they will not actually lower my car.
Is there anyone making a lowering spring for my car?
And will the dropped spindles fit and work on a 6 cyl car?
Or should I just cut the springs down a little?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Drop spindles would work the same for 8 or 6 cylinder cars, but its my understanding that there are durability issues with the drop spindles on the market for our cars. I don't think there are lowering springs made specifically for V6 cars.
I have an 87 V6 too, and I ended up going with the ground control weight jacks. That's probably out of the price range for most people though. I would say if it's just for looks cutting springs would be the best/most cost effective method.

I used Dropzone springs when I lowered mine, but it seems they have gone out of business since then. There are a couple other brands floating around out there on ebay and such (which is where I got my DZs). For the price, they may be worth a shot. I'm not too familiar with any other brand that offers springs for V6 anymore though.

Suspension Techniques makes 1" lowering springs for the v6. I have them on my 87, but don't have the part number on me

Re: Lowering a 6cyl car. Will lowering springs work?
Thanks guys, I ordered some new wheels and tires.
Once they are on the car, I am going to figure out how much lower I want to go.
The Suspension Techniques springs may be the best option.
I may cut the stock springs first though to see how it looks and works.
What kind of issues are people having with the droped spindles?
I've had this car in storage for the last 17 years and time to get it back on the road for my 17 yr old son.
