Few months ago I was involved in a wreck going about 20mph. Had to swerve off the road to aviod a dog in the street. Hit the passenger side of my car on the sidewalk comming to a complete dead stop. Passenger side tire was completely jammed into the rear of the fender well. Didnt think i had frame damage until weeks later after i replaced the spindle. Tire is still pressed against the fender well. Until looking closer that the Lower control arm hinges are bent to crap. Looks like i need a new k-member. But now that i take an even more deeper look at it, Theres obvious frame damge. Not really sure what to do now. Its not bent too bad, but its also not driveable, Any idea on how much it would roughtly cost to straighten it? Anyone ever had frame rapair done to their bird/camaro? if so, how much did you expect to pay for the cost and what was the final cost? Any feed back would help!
I can't see what you explain in the pictures but for an estimate all you can do is take it to a shop with a frame machine. They may send a guy to you as a courtesy under your circumstances. Due to the amount of work it is to remove a Kmember the labor will probably be the factor that pushes the cost overboard.
It would be a lot of work but a lot cheaper if you pull the engine, Kmember, front suspension and maybe some of the body work you could try to straighten it yourself with a port-a-power. If you do that and get it straight again, check and be sure everything is ok. No cracks or anything from the stress. Maybe then have the body shop guy come and look, maybe throw him a few bucks for his time and knowledge. Just want to be sure the car will be safe to be back on the road.
I had one somewhat similar. Was a 90 RS. It has been in a low speed collision on the driver's side. It bowed the driver's side frame rail up and back. Estimate for just pulling the frame back was $400.
Find a good shop and see what they say. They do it for a living and know a lot better looking in person then anyone can say over a couple of pictures on the internet.
Sometimes its just better to hit the animal. Glad you are OK, but this is why I don't swerve, I would rather hit the rabbit/dog/deer than something harder off the road. Where I live there are far fewer curbs and far more trees.
Defiantly need to find a reputable body shop & get a quote from them.
