don't know what to do

So my 87 with an ls swap may have a bent frame. I bought cc plates and put them in thinking it would cure my caster issue. But it didn't. My passenger wheel is much further back than drivers. I have the drivers side maxed out to the rear and passenger maxed to the front and they are still about an inch off.

I can't measure anything for awhile being that it is stored 130 miles from me at my cabin.

Question being, are there any possibilities of the k member being shifted ****-eyed? Or is it looking like i actually have frame damage? All body parts line up fine. previous owner rattle canned the under hood area so hard to see if anything shifted.

I've had my k-member out twice, and it does have a tiny amount of slop at the mounting points. Nothing major though.

The only way to know for sure is to get under the car and check all of your suspension mounting points (A-arms, spindles, linkage etc.). and visually inspect for any damage.

Re: don't know what to do

If it wasn't so cold last weekend up there i probably would have gotten some sleep and had my wits about me enough to have looked. Lol i ran my shop out of 50 gallons of propane in 3 days it was so cold. I know the previous owner had the k member out before because the passenger brake line is in the wrong spot

Just a few days ago I was iced-in here in TX; the temp never went below 23F though. I thought 20 degrees was pretty rough to work under. I can see why you burnt 50 gallons of propane lol, I cant imagine working in single digit weather.

Re: don't know what to do

Depending on how it may be bent, you can measure the engine bay in an X pattern. Should be the same on both ways. Measure to the same points on both sides.

Other than that, like noshow said, get under it and check everything out. Measure like points on both sides. You'll find it.

Re: don't know what to do

So i measured what i could. The control arms were the same on both sides. The frame appears to be straight. I measured from each windshield corner to opposite radiator support corner. Those were within 16th of an inch of eachother so im calling frame straight. All thats left is k member. That looks good but couldnt measure it.

If i knew how to post photos in the thread i would. The passenger tire is so far back that it hits the fender and actually bent the lower inner corner.

Re: don't know what to do

How were the a-arm bushings? If one is deteriorated it would allow the a-arm to deflect like that. An easy way to check is go forward (wheel would go back) and back (wheel would move forward).

pull the wheels and start with a visual comparison between each side. Strut bent? Spindle? A-arms? A-arms at the same angles? Are the a-arm mounts the same on both sides of the K-member? the fender isn't what moved is it?

Re: don't know what to do

Bushings, ball joints, tie rods all are new. Nothing is visually bent. The only thing i didnt measure was k member. I found one cheap on Craigslist that im picking up tomorrow.

The fenders and doors all at straight and appear to be gapped correctly.
