I've seen / read many threads... many have noise... many don't... but what is the ratio...
Sadly, I'm on the "has noise" side...
91 5.0 TPI Formula 5 Speed.
Spohn & Alston Sub frame connectors.
Bilstein Struts and Shocks.
All Poly engine mount, sway bar bushings & ends, Trans mount without plate...
Global West Del lum A arm bushings
Moog Stock Height Springs...
Freshly rebuilt 10 bolt with premium parts
Freshly built Astro A5 (T5) with upgraded main shaft
New Slip Yoke, custom drive shaft and new ujoints...
Pinion angle set to -1 as requested by spohn...
Second Skin Audio all over floor / trans tunnel...
New Founders 3 way ploy LCA's and Panhard Bar
Wonder Bar
Jamex STB
& still... clank, clank, clank...
I seem to hear it most while idling at speed, when I'm not pressing the throttle...
I love how it makes the car handle / feel... but that noise...
Mechanic said they pushed the fuel line bracket back... But I have no GoPro to check...
Another note...
The bolts used aren't exactly right... part of the threads are inside the cylinder, and a couple of people have changed those, but for one guy I read, it was a bit better... but still made noise...
I have the torque arm but cant comment on how noisy it is due to how noisy my car is in general. But I dont think i hear the sounds youre describing. Is the front mount on yours (the part that connects to the trans x-member) a steel rod end?
Top is torqued to 100 ft.lbs.
Bottom to 50 ft.lbs per Spohn instructions...
It's not just one loud clunk... it's constant rattle when either not accelerating or braking...
Maybe i do have that sound. I guess its coming from the back rod ends on the adjustments then. If you could replace those with a softer joint, i bet that would go a long way in silencing that sound.
You gotta play with the nut "tightness" on those front mounts to the cross member. Its gotta be loose enough to pivot but too loose and it clunks alot on decel
Those ends on the rear dont make the noise. Its def a common problem and its the pivoting arm on the front connection. If too loose it moves alot and gets annoying on decel
