Is there a gasket/seal under steering box adjustment nut?

I'm referring to the nut that has the Allen head screw in the middle. The one used for lash adjustment. I had monkied around with that two years ago, and now it's leaking quite a bit of fluid.

Remove it then take it to your local auto parts supplier, some foreign cars use a washer such as that on the caliper banjo bolts. If for some reason you can't find one with the rubber, you can try a brass or aluminum "crush" washer that size.....

It's more like an oil drain plug washer. You can prolly find one of those that will fix it without having to buy the whole paper-&-rubber set.

I just removed the nut and nothing was under it. That's peculiar because it just started leaking a few days ago and I've never removed it. Only loosened once. A few years ago

Re: Is there a gasket/seal under steering box adjustment nut?

Looks like good ol' Teflon tape around the shaft screw worked. According to the parts list, there is no gasketed washer on the factory unit. I think there was a seal on the nut, but since I made adjustments I probably pooched it. Anyway, seems to be working now.
