87 GTA front sway bar bushing question

We have a 1987 GTA and I need to replace the front sway bar bushings. I've looked on the local auto parts website and they list several sizes.... 1-1/8", 1-1/4", 1-5/16" and 1-7/16" sizes.

Would any of you guys happen to know the size ??

Depends on what you have on your RPO codes, if available. Look for an F41, FE1, FE2, or FE3. Go to the thread below and match the code with the year to find out your size in mm. If you have calipers you can check the diameter of the sway bar in question. I believe you may have the FE2 - 34mm front and 24mm rear.

I saw that thread earlier today....

The problem is, the auto parts store (Advance) doesn't list the bushing sizes in mm. They show up in inches like I posted.

34mm bushings are 1.34 in per my calipers. Probably looking for 1 3/8".

Re: 87 GTA front sway bar bushing question

I just bought Energy Suspension 34mm greaseable bushings for my 87 IROC last week they have a zerc fitting for adding grease.Ordered online as my local stores did not carry the right size part. Part number is 9.5167G for black and 9.5167R for red. Size is 1 5/16" for 34mm. I also bought Energy Suspension greaseable bushings for the 23mm rear swaybar part number 9.5159R. Energy Suspension sway bar end link part number is 9.8117G for black and 9.8117R for red . Front and rear bars use the same size end links.

grab a big crescent wrench... tighten it around the sway bar in the car... measure the jaws with a tape measure.. get bushings about that size.

Re: 87 GTA front sway bar bushing question

There are no aftermarket bushings that will fit a 36mm bar. 34 is as big as they go. The only place to get correct 36mm bushings is TDS.

Re: 87 GTA front sway bar bushing question

We offer sway bar bushing sets in 1 3/8", 1 1/4", 1", 7/8" and 3/4" that are completely greasable, and come with a unique channel design that allows lube to get to all inner bushing surfaces.

If you have and questions or need help give us a call.

I bought a set of 36mm bushings from Summit racing a few years back when I replaced mine. Energy suspension made em.
