Removing Strut without dropping Control Arm?

Is it possible to remove my strut from the caster/camber plate without removing it from the spindle and without removing the spindle from the control arm? I just want to slip on a new dust cover but to want the car to go flying.

Thanks!

Just put a jack under the control arm. remove 2 bolts from bottom of strut. No reason to remove spindle.

Wouldn't the spring unload and shoot the car up then?

it would not do that.

might as well just unbolt the strut from the spindle anyways it will make it easier.
