This crack....

Was starting the rear suspension and had the wheels off, saw this crack. Its behind the wheel in the rear passenger side. Is this a serious frame crack? Is it something else ( i'm still pretty noob), can this be repaired? Should I be worried?

Re: This crack....

Certainly meets my criteria for serious.

That's going to require section replacement, or at least plating/reinforcement, along with some professional welding, in my opinion. I'd find a reputable local frame or custom shop, maybe a body shop.

Yeh I can get a better picture tomorrow. The car isn't jacked very high off the ground so hard to back the camera up enough to get a better frame of reference.

I do know a good body shop, hopefully it won't be too serious, and it can be repaired. If i have to buy another section of frame that'll kinda bum me out but i'll probably do it if its not too much. Only paid 1100 for this car but i've already put a whole new front end in it and didn't expect to have to dump money into something like this :/

Re: This crack....

That's the rear subframe next to the fuel tank and yes that is a very serious stress crack. You will need to grind out the area, weld it up and weld over a doubler (fish) plate to spread the stress there because the metal is work hardened and weldiong will not make it a whole lot better

Re: This crack....

I did an inspection this morning, other than a little mooshy rust spot under the driver seat about the size of a dime I found no other frame cracks or bends/deviations or other areas of bad rust. It does appear that the previous owner did some reinforcing around the steering box though. No cracks apparent there.
