How hard is it to change a pitman arm ?

How hard is it to change a pitman arm ?

Is this hard guys ? If not , How is it done ? Do I need any special tools , Thanx guys , Wayne

you will need a pitman arm puller to get it off the power steering box. when you install the new one all you need is just tighten the bolt and it will press it back on.

it's not on the powersteering box , the pitman arm on my car is on the other side .

If that's the case, you've got really big problems, or you mean the idler arm. You'll need a pickle fork or ball stud puller to separate it from the center link. Be sure to mark the height of the idler arm before loosening the bolts, since the holes are slotted and you want to end up with the center link level. The correct way to do this is to put a socket on the LCA pivot bolt and measure the distance up to it from the flat spot on the center link using a special tool and then check it against the other side, but you can improvise.

Check your centerlink while your at it. My steering was 'sloppyy' Thought i was my idler/pitman arms, but mostly just the center link. my idler wasnt BAD, but was wearing, and turns out my ball joints are fried! Not good. how hard is it to change these things anyway (ball joints)?
