lowering question

I've read the lowering thread and the lower control arm relocation thread and I'm more confused now than before.
I'm not a mechanical engineer or suspension geometry expert so a simple yes or no will work.
I want to drop my car (86 IROC) using the eibach pro springs.
Do I need to relocate the lower control arms?
I don't race the car, don't do smokey burnouts (much) so wheel hop isn't a huge concern.

Re: lowering question

No, you don't have to use the relocation brackets. If you're not "performance driving" the car then you really wont notice anything. However, I would put them on your back burner list of parts to buy. The Founders Performance ones are $50 and they bolt in so its not going to break the bank

Re: lowering question

to the best of my knowledge after the install you should put the car back on the ground and the control arms should be level with the ground if not you may need the relocation brackets

Re: lowering question

Thanks folks. Aftermarket lca's, panhard bar and torque arm are on my list. I was going to do the springs first because that is the one thing about my car I don't like..is the space above the tires..

The space will still be there with the pro kit.

Re: lowering question

It will sit that high or higher and make it handle like a SUV.

Re: lowering question

Handle like and SUV?????

It is common for the Eibach pro kit to NOT lower the car, simply because the 1" drop is from STOCK ride height. You car is more that 26 years from stock ride height, and the suspension, although it looks to be up around stock height, is probably sagging some. If you like the way the cars look in the lowering thread with the pro kit then get them, Eibach is a good product and won't change your ride quality or handling. Lower center of gravity might change handling a little but if you just cruise you may not notice. You will need an alignment after you lower it because lowering effects camber and toe.

Re: lowering question

I put my stock 16's back on. This is with the sportlines and the isolators removed.

The back sits dead level with the front. The parking lot is un-even where I parked.

Re: lowering question

I can say without any doubt dont buy spohn anything I bought a transmission crossmember and had to slot the holes for it to fit and then another 95 bucks to get it powercoated and I went to install my spohn coilover kit bolts would not fit I had to drill out the holes so they would fit now back to the powercoating and they dont tell you you have to use a taller camber plate I will not even buy a lug nut kit from these guys
